Table 2 In vitro drug sensitivity of Plasmodium falciparum isolates, N = 31

  1. *IC50 threshold for resistance are amodiaquine 60 nM, chloroquine 100 nM and quinine 800 nM. Studies on sensitivity cut-off point for artemisinin and its derivative is not conclusive yet but an IC50 of 20 nM is considered high [28, 29]. Thirty-eight (38) samples were tested, out of which 31 (81.6%) were successfully phenotyped with the anti-malaria drugs. Test was successful when percentage of schizont to total parasite in drug-free control well was at least 10%. Confidence interval (CI) is at 0.05 significance level.
