Mass spectrometry analysis of the time course hydrolysis of BK-related peptides by Plasmodium falciparum parasites. The substrate Abz–MISLMKRPPGFSPFRSSRI-NH2 (I) (30 μM) was incubated with isolated P. falciparum parasites (104 cells) for the indicated times (0-120 min) and the supernatant was analysed by MALDI-TOF/MS, detecting the kinin peptides: Lys-BK (II), BK (III), and des-Arg9-BK (IV).
