Expression of Pfnek-4 in untransformed asexual parasites. Nested RT-PCR detection of Pfnek-4 transcripts in untransformed gametocyte-less Plasmodium falciparum F12 substrain. Two rounds of amplification performed on RNA samples untreated or treated with Dnase I and reverse transcriptase from both 3D7 and F12 clones yielded amplified fragments of the expected size for Pfnek-4 genomic DNA (0.99 kb) and cDNA (0.48 kb).
