A parasite culture synchronized over a six-hour period was subjected to an eight-hour pulse of nitidine at IC50 (grey bars), 1/10 (dark grey) and 10 times the value (white bars). Major events along the erythrocytic cycle are summarized. The dotted line shows protein synthesis, and the solid black line shows DNA synthesis [20].
