  1. The abbreviations for the antimalarial compounds are: dihydroartemisinin (DHA), arterolane, synthetic endoperoxide (OZ277), chloroquine (CQ), amodiaquine (AQ), piperaquine (PIP), mefloquine (MQ), lumefantrine (LUM), quinine (QUI), pyronaridine (PND), atovaquone (ATV) and pyrimethamine (PYR).
  2. The IC50 values are averaged from at least three independent experiments with some repeated on more than ten occasions. All data are presented as mean ± S.E.M. In several instances, the IC50 values for pyrimethamine exceeded the limits of detection for the concentration range adopted in the experiments and are thus reported as >10,000 nM.
