Upper line, left: The median MLCR in malaria patients was significantly higher than in controls (P <0.001), while it was similar in severe malaria patients and uncomplicated cases (P =0.631). Upper line, right: The median NLCR was significantly higher in malaria patients compared to controls (P <0.001) as well as in severe malaria patients compared to uncomplicated cases (P =0.012). Lower line, left: The median MLCR in NI malaria patients was significantly higher than in NI controls (P <0.001). The difference in SI patients was not significant. Lower line, right: The median NLCR in SI severe cases was significantly higher than in SI uncomplicated cases (P =0.003). The difference was less pronounced in NI cases.
