  1. Immunophenotyping was performed on 55 cord blood samples; 27 from malaria infected women and 28 from uninfected women. APC were quantified as a percentage of the total CBMC. Absolute numbers of MDC, PDC and monocytes were calculated from CBMC counts. HLA-DR and CD86 expression levels were then examined in different APC subsets.
