Median values of iRBCs and pWBCs were significantly different (****p ≤ 0.0001), independent of parasite maturity. Additionally, statistically significant differences between median values of young and late trophozoite iRBCs (*p ≤ 0.05) were observed. Significant differences (p ≤ 0.0001) of median values compared to negative control cell populations, uninfected RBCs (†) and WBCs (‡), were observed for all haemozoin-containing cell types
