Time-to-first Plasmodium falciparum infection. There is no difference in the time-to-infection (defined by the presence of DNA in peripheral blood) between children in Kisumu (high malaria) and Nandi (low malaria). Despite malaria transmission being lower in Nandi, it seems that many children were infected earlier in this region compared to Kisumu (P value for proportional hazard assumption P = 0.017, test for the trend in the weighted residuals)
