From: Avian malaria alters the dynamics of blood feeding in Culex pipiens mosquitoes
Effect of the status of infection by Plasmodium relictum of mosquitoes [infected by sporozoites (solid line) vs uninfected (dashed line)] on the temporal dynamics of mosquito blood feeding. Around 90 Culex pipiens mosquitoes (45 uninfected and 45 sporozoite-infected mosquitoes) were presented an uninfected birds on which they were allowed to feed. Every 10 min, blood-fed mosquitoes were taken out from the cage and sorted according to their status of infection. The experiment was replicated 6 times (using 6 different uninfected birds, see Additional file 2: Figure S1 showing the blood feeding dynamics on each bird)
