Maximum likelihood phylogenetic tree of the small subunit ribosomal RNA sequence. The tree shows that MIS2595 is phylogenetically related to P. ovale curtisi strains whereas MIS2712 is related to P. ovale wallikeri. The tree was rooted with the P. falciparum 3D7 sequence which show 100% bootstrap support for the P. ovale curtisi and P. ovale wallikeri nodes
