  1. Data were compared with GLMMs with the habitat identifier as a random variable to account for repeated sampling. The data was analysed with two different distributions: (1) binary data (presence or absence) was fitted to a binomial distribution, and (2) count data were fitted to a negative binomial distribution. For the density analysis, all sampling sites with zero counts of larvae were excluded
