Flow chart of patient allocation for 42 days of follow up. Of the 108 microscopy P. vivax mono-infections, 3 were P. falciparum by RDT (discordant), 2 were pregnant and 1 volunteer was not resident at the study area and thus excluded from the study. During follow up, five turned P. falciparum positive on days 14 (n = 1), 21 (n = 1), 28 (n = 2) and 42 (n = 1). Sixteen cases were lost to follow up or withdrawn from the study and thus excluded from the Kaplan-Meier analysis. Of the 81 remaining patients; 9 had treatment failure on day 30 (n = 1), 35 (n = 1) and 42 (n = 7).
