The subscript 'j' (= 1, 2, 3) indicates further subdivision of the corresponding compartment. Three models inside the big grey box are considered as the Basic malaria models in this paper. Dotted arrows show the incorporation of complex factors in different models or specific compartment (red circle). Total population size is constant for all models, except the ones inside the dashed box.
