Concordance between microsatellite genotyping and F ws within-infection fixation indices, derived from genome-wide SNP data for Plasmodium falciparum clinical isolates from Guinea (N = 93 with complete ten-locus microsatellite genotype profiles). As expected, a highly negative relationship (Pearson’s coefficient = −0.88, P < 0.001) was seen between the F ws fixation index and the number of microsatellite loci with >1 allele detected within each infection. The numbers of clinical isolates within each x-axis category are shown in Fig. 1b
