From: Plasmodium 18S rRNA of intravenously administered sporozoites does not persist in peripheral blood
Plasmodium falciparum 18S rRNA biomarker in rhesus macaques before and after high-dose PfSPZ inoculation. Tissue samples and whole blood were collected and preserved in lysis buffer as described. Nucleic acids were extracted and RT-PCR performed as described. The Plasmodium 18S rRNA biomarker was detected only from liver samples.
