Despite being log transformed, the distribution shapes appear to shift down with infection age but maintain the same general shape, suggesting a power-law relationship between the mean and variance of parasitaemia. Power laws are then fit to log10 transformed daily mean and variances in B and D, restricted to those above the estimated sensitivity of light microscopy (88 parasites per cmm blood)
