The patient characteristics independently associated with promptness in seeking care from a VHW are; fever (aOR = 1.93, 95% CI 1.80–2.06, p < 0.001), diarrhoea (aOR = 1.43, 95% CI 1.32–1.54, p < 0.001), pneumonia (aOR = 1.33, 95% CI 1.24–1.42, p < 0.001), child had danger sign (aOR = 0.51, 95% CI 0.38–0.69, p < 0.001), and child referred (aOR = 1.59, 95% CI 0.52–0.68, p < 0.001)
