The AI was determined by dividing the OD value of urea-treated serum samples by that of untreated samples, after substracting the OD of NMS (background), then multiplying by 100. Antibodies with AI values less than 30%, between 30 and 50%, and above 50% were considered low-avidity, intermediate-avidity, and high-avidity, respectively [27]
